Sacks... Paper Vs Polythene
Considering choosing paper packaging over polythene?
![]()
Over the past 10 years we have seen a substantial swing away from the use of paper sacks towards polythene especially in areas such as agriculture.
Initially this was lead by practical considerations such as durability & weather fastness until price became an important factor with polythene becoming substantially cheaper for larger quantities.
Over the past year we have seen this trend arrested with several large users of polythene sacks reverting back to paper.
This trend has occurred because of increased paper qualities which allow for down gauging, the dramatic volatility in polymer based products as a direct result of oil price and an increased awareness of the reduced environmental impact of paper. It has been particularly apparent in the organic sector where paper is seen to sit favourably with the product it is containing.
Orchard Packaging supplies both paper and polythene sacks and is therefore ideally suited to offer impartial advice and practical solutions to your requirements.
